Mariano: No clause Madrid return clause

Olympique Lyonnais striker Mariano Diaz has ruled out a quick return to Real Madrid, insisting no buyback clause exists in his deal.

The Dominican Republic born striker has been in fine form this season, netting 12 goals for the French giants following his €8m summer move from Madrid.

“I signed a five-year contract and there’s no clause that exists,” Mariano is quoted as saying by Diario AS.

“Lyon have all of my rights and I am very happy to be at this club and to be scoring lots of goals – this is what I needed.

“The opportunity to sign for Lyon was something I could not pass up and I realise this every single day, I believe I have chosen well and wish to keep going.”

The 24-year-old is eligible to play for Spain and rumours suggest he could be capped by Julen Lopetegui.
