Real Madrid defender Marcelo has accepted his culpability regarding tax fraud charges and has agreed to return almost €500k in taxes to Spain.
The Brazilian’s court appearance on Tuesday was brief – lasting less than 15 minutes – as he accepted full responsibility and he will now pay back €490,917.70 in unpaid charges.
A case had been formed by public prosecutors after it came to light that the 29-year-old had created a corporate structure to conceal image rights income for three consecutive years between 2011 and 2013.
The left-back was spared any suspended jail sentence.
