Marcelo believes Real Madrid’s 6-0 Champions League victory at APOEL Nicosia has ‘regained a lot of the confidence’ for his side.
The emphatic victory, coupled with Borussia Dortmund’s defeat to Tottenham, ensured Zinedine Zidane’s side advanced into the last sixteen of the competition.
“We regained a lot of the confidence which we had lost,” Marcelo told reporters after the match, as quoted by Marca.
“I’m a happy person but after the game I am happier than I usually am because of our performance the number of opportunities we created, keeping a clean sheet and controlling the game.
“It is not in our minds to silence our critics even though we are aware that a lot of people want to erase all the great things we have achieved.
“For us, it was great for everyone to play well after our recent bad run, especially after the match with Atletico at the weekend.
“It was pleasing for Cristiano and Benzema to get back to scoring form.”
