Karim Benzema is the ‘first player who wants to do more’ according to Zinedine Zidane, who insisted he remains positive despite the team’s patchy form.
The French striker has netted only one La Liga goal in eight appearances for the struggling champions, who lie ten points off league leaders Barcelona.
“He is the first player who wants to do more,” Zidane told reporters on Monday.
“He is aware he can improve and give more to the team but the truth is we know that is true for every player, not just Karim.
“I believe we are improving, we are not at our best level but we are getting better and now we must focus on getting our goal numbers back up to normal levels.
“We hope this game (against APOEL, in Nicosia) helps us change and reach that level.
“I’m always going to be positive, it is my personality but I enjoy my job and the demands and pressures, but while some may be worried I will not be.”
