La Liga president Javier Tebas is confident VAR technology will be implemented in Spanish football next season but it should have been sooner.
Spanish FA chief Juan Luis Larrea confirmed last month that he would attempt to bring in the system which would eliminate doubt over the ball crossing the line.
“Spanish football must not be allowed to fall behind on football technology,” Tebas is quoted as saying by Marca.
“This is an issue which unfortunately is not in my hands and that is why we have not implemented VAR, which is such an important issue.
“Hopefully it will be used, I will certainly give my support to it and my prediction is it will be used.”
Relations between La Liga and the Spanish FA are said to have been strained for quite some time.
