Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema has recalled his sublime piece of skill in last season’s Champions League semi-final as ‘a mix of talent and confidence’.
The French forward produced a magical moment in the second leg of the tie with Atletico Madrid – whom Zinedine Zidane’s side play this weekend – by picking up the ball on the by-line and beating three Atleti defenders, before cutting back for Isco to score the crucial away goal.
“It was a mix of talent and confidence,” Benzema told Canal+, as quoted by Marca.
“This was a very beautiful move and relatively unique, in that moment I had to be self-assured to pull that off.
“The truth is I did not really think about it – I just ran onto the ball and kept going, it was a really nice feeling.”
