Valencia may need to sell Soler

Valencia may be forced to sell in-form midfielder Carlos Soler if they fail to qualify for the Champions League this season.

A report in Marca states the club desperately need to raise €45m within the next year and if they fail to secure the income from Europe’s elite club competition they would be willing to sell the rising star.

The highly-rated 20-year-old signed a new deal with Los Che in May until June 2021 with a reported buyout clause of €80m.

Soler only made his professional debut in December 2016 but has since made 37 appearances – including starting all 11 matches this season – and scoring four times, in a string of impressive displays.

The sale of Joao Cancelo to Inter – to whom he is currently on loan – has already been taken into account when analyzing the club’s financial situation.

Valencia have made a flying start to La Liga, winning eight and drawing three of their opening 11 matches, after two consecutive 12th-placed finishes.
