Barcelona’s Thomas Vermaelen is reportedly a January option for Inter who are said to be hopeful of signing an experienced central defender.
The 31-year-old spent last season on loan at Roma in Italy but made only seven starts in all competitions as he struggled with injuries.
However, since returning to the Camp Nou he has not featured in any La Liga game this season and is thought to be surplus to requirements at the club.
A report in Italian-based Tuttosport claims he is now a short-term loan option for the Nerazzurri, who are also said to be monitoring former Valencia defender Eliaquim Mangala, now at Manchester City.
