Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has refused to rule out returning to former club Barcelona in the future.
The 26-year-old joined the German champions in a €20m deal in 2013 from the Blaugrana and has amassed over 150 appearances in Bavaria, whilst also starring for the Spanish national side.
“Barcelona will always be my home, I have great affection not only for the club but for the city too,” Thiago told Catalunya Radio over the weekend.
“I am really happy at Bayern so I cannot say if I will definitely return but football changes a lot in a short space of time and anything can happen.
“Last season I renewed my contract with Bayern but there is a possibility that the club and me differ in the directions we wish to take.
“As a footballer, you can only look at the current season as it is so long and afterwards you reflect upon it and where you want to go from there but right now, I am happy at Bayern.
“Rafa (Thiago’s brother)? He has improved a lot recently and once he regains fitness, I am sure he will be in Barca’s team.”
