Ramos: Let Asensio play

Sergio Ramos believes Real Madrid starlet Marco Asensio should be left alone to play his football, not weighed down by the pressure of expectation.

Asensio scored as Madrid dispatched Las Palmas on Sunday night, netting where Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema both failed to find the back of the net.

“Cris and Karim’s goals will come. Karim is more generous in that sense. Cris goes home upset when he doesn’t score, but we don’t worry that they’ve only scored a few goals because they make a difference and what matters is winning, and the goals will come,” Ramos said post-match, Marca reports.

“We came out for the victory from the first moment. They had more behind the ball until the first goal, and after the 1-0 we took advantage of the spaces. The victory is good for us. Now it’s time for the national team but we approach the derby with a home win. This is the way, these are the results we achieved at the start of the season.

“We’re a team that does damage with the ball but teams take the virtues they have in the team and although in other seasons we have done more damage, little by little it is coming. When our opponents have confidence but not control in the wings, the goals are coming.

“Asensio is a crack, let him play and enjoy what he is, a kid. But don’t put stones in his backpack. With these golazos people think that every time he hits it he is going to put it in the top corner.”
