Marcelo: No need to go crazy

Real Madrid full-back Marcelo insists ‘there’s no need to go crazy’ after the club’s recent patchy run of form in La Liga.

Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at Girona put Zinedine Zidane’s side eight points behind league leaders Barcelona but the Brazilian insists they will improve.

“We will get better, there’s no need to go crazy,” Marcelo told reporters ahead of the match against Tottenham.

“Matches in La Liga are never easy, as anyone who has played in them knows – you can’t just turn up and win, you need to fight for it.

“There are a number of games left and enough time for us to recover to get back on top – sometimes you struggle as we have done before, but then we always managed to find winners.

“Champions League games too are particularly special of course and motivate every player…it’s hard to explain.

“Harry Kane is a very important player but Tottenham are more than just one player, they are a fantastic team.

“Kane often produces great moments in big games but it’s important for us not to focus just on him and take on the team as a whole.”
