Mayoral ‘living dreams’ at Madrid

Borja Mayoral has described being part of the first team squad at Real Madrid as ‘a dream’ after returning from a loan spell at Wolfsburg.

The 20-year-old has been involved in six first-team games for Los Blancos this season and scored his first La Liga goal for the club in a 3-1 win at Real Sociedad last month.

“Joining Wolfsburg on loan was my best option at that moment," Mayoral told Real Madrid TV.

“Unfortunately, I wasn’t lucky enough to be in the starting line-up but sometimes you have to suffer and go through tough spells if you want to succeed.

“When I came back I didn’t know if I would be part of pre-season but he (Zidane) told me immediately that he wanted me to be in his squad.

“Now I’m living my dream, learning from the best players in the world and I’ll have to work hard to get my chance.

“Zidane has put a huge influence on m career, he gave me my Castilla debut against Getafe B but whenever he and his coaching staff tell you what to do, you listen.”
