Thiago out of Israel clash

Spain will be without Thiago Alcantara for their final World Cup qualifier against Israel on Monday after the midfielder picked up an ankle injury.

Marca reports Thiago underwent tests on Saturday morning, which showed he had sprained ankle ligaments.

The newspaper adds the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has already sent his medical report to Bayern Munich.

Consequently, Spain have travelled to Israel with just 22 players, given Gerard Pique and David Silva are suspended.

Victory in Jerusalem is necessary for La Roja if they want to be top seeds in the draw for the World Cup group stage, which will be made on December 1.
