Pareja: Clear foul before Liverpool goal

Sevilla’s Nico Pareja has lamented the refereeing decision not to award his side a ‘clear’ free-kick before they conceded the second goal against Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah’s deflected effort put the English side in front in Wednesday’s Champions League encounter – which finished 2-2 – but the Egyptian had challenged Steven N’Zonzi contentiously moments earlier.

“The foul on N’Zonzi before the second goal was clear, we were unlucky with that,” Pareja told BeIn Sports after the game.

“But we were playing in a very difficult stadium against a tricky opponent and to start with a point is not bad, now we must build on this result.

“We started well but in truth Liverpool dominated the first half and it was not until the second period where we began to play and keep possession.

“We knew we would create chances but equally we knew we must take them, we could have ended up winning the match but a draw was the fair outcome.”
