Ernesto Valverde hailed Barcelona for having “the necessary patience” in beating Juventus 3-0 on Tuesday.
Lionel Messi’s brace and an Ivan Rakitic strike ensured Barca inflicted revenge on their quarter-final defeat to Juve in the Champions League last season, but Valverde was more enthused with the patient manner his side exhibited at Camp Nou
“We really value this win, especially in terms of the group’s placing,” the Coach said after the game.
“We’ve beaten the finalists of last season, conceding no goals and scoring three… These three points give us good sensations.
“We had a good game and caused them a few problems in the first half, but we had the necessary patience to play, win the ball back and attack them.
“You never know when you can open the game, so you have to keep going.
“You have the feeling that when Leo gets the ball, something good could happen for us. Going 1-0 up was crucial, before half-time.”
