El Clasico moved to December 23

The first El Clasico league meeting this season has been moved to Wednesday December 23 with a 1pm (CET) kick-off, states La Liga president Javier Tebas.

Initially scheduled for December 20, the fixture has been moved back by three days to accommodate Madrid’s participation in the Club World Cup, which will end four days beforehand.

Tebas confirmed the news to Onda Cero radio programme El Transistor on Sunday evening, with the rest of the league schedule that weekend to remain unchanged.

This will be the third meeting between the sides this season after Madrid’s 5-1 aggregate win in the Spanish Supercopa last month.

Last season, the Blaugrana won their trip to the Bernabeu in dramatic fashion with Lionel Messi netting a 93rd minute winner against 10-man Los Blancos in a 3-2 thriller.
