‘La Real wouldn’t settle for draw’

Eusebio Sacristan hailed Real Sociedad for “not settling for a draw” after their 4-2 win at Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday.

Depor had come back from 2-0 down to draw level with La Real, but the Basques stayed joint-top of La Liga thanks to two late goals from Diego Llorente and Asier Illarramendi

“We deserve a lot of credit after reacting to 2-2, which came after we went 2-0 up, and not settling for the draw,” the Coach said after the game.

“It was difficult when they drew 2-2 because Depor were imposing themselves. That made us view the match with certain difficulties. “Still, the team again came back up by taking control and the initiative, which is when we’re more comfortable.

“We started getting behind them more, and from that perseverance appeared our chances against an increasingly-tired Depor, as well as the prize of a victory.

“It was a match of possibilities. It started very well for us but, unconsciously, you may want to hold on to the result and that proved very costly for us.

“The positive thing is that after being on the verge of dropping points, the team wanted [the win] again and got it.”
