Eduardo Berizzo has warned Sevilla that Liverpool “will be wounded” when both sides meet in the Champions League next week.
Liverpool were thrashed 5-0 by Manchester City on Saturday, the same day that Sevilla comprehensively beat Eibar 3-0, but Berizzo made it clear the Reds would come out fighting.
“It was a good performance from the team. I wasn’t disappointed by our lack of accuracy in the first half,” the Coach said after the game.
“The early goal from Ganso in the second half gave us control of the match. It was a performance that strengthened us and let us draw positives. We controlled an uncomfortable rival.
“The 15-day break for internationals did us good. Sarabia’;s performance was outstanding, he played in a position where he gave defensive guarantees and helped the team play very fluently. He’s a talented and generous player.
“Missed chances? Hopefully we’ll improve our conversation rate, but I’m glad that the lads who are playing in attack are scoring like they are.
“Nolito? He is a footballer who can decide games. He’s very dangerous and always finds space.
“I didn’t take him off because I didn’t think he was in any pain. I took off Jesus Navas because he was more tired.
“Liverpool’s heavy defeat to City? It should be noted that they played with a man less for an hour away from home.
“They’re a great team and that defeat doesn’t take anything away from them. Moreover, they’ll be wounded.
“We must keep putting together solid victories. Eibar were able to put us under pressure early on. After that, we put together the correct attacks.
“We must keep taking over matches. We must continue to work and be correct in our approach. Our performance leaves me satisfied.
“Muriel? He’s here now. He arrived yesterday after training but I thought it was best not to include him because I needed to watch over those trained during the week.
“Less heat than expected? It wasn’t the hottest day, but the temperature was high.
“The drinks break was decided by the Coaches before the game, but the kick-off times should be looked at.
“It was a moderately cool day, but it’s usually 35 or 36 degrees at this time of the year. It’s hot in the south of Spain, [the authorities] should know. "
