Marcelino: Draw gave me a good taste

Valencia Coach Marcelino Garcia Toral had ‘a good taste’ in his mouth after Sunday’s 2-2 draw at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid.

Goals from Carlos Soler and Geoffrey Kondogbia helped Los Che hold the Spanish and European champions in a pulsating encounter.

“The game could have been won by either, but the draw leaves a very good taste in my mouth,” Marcelino told reporters after the game.

“I am very proud of my players in terms of our game plan and their individual performances.

“Kondogbia was very good tonight and both of our midfielder pivots gave a perfect illustration of how to defend and attack from such a key position on the pitch.

“A message to the fans? We have a long way to go and must keep our feet on the ground, this is a strong start but we must continue on this road.

“Asensio was phenomenal for Real Madrid and I believe they missed Cristiano Ronaldo with the number of chances they managed to create.”
