Sevilla tied with Istanbul Basaksehir

Sevilla will face Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir in the final qualifying round for this season’s Champions League.

Los Rojiblancos will travel to Istanbul for the first leg, scheduled for August 15-16 with the return leg at Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan the following week.

Last season, the Andalucians reached the Round of 16 after advancing through the group stage and had won the Europa League in each of the previous three campaigns.

Basaksehir were only founded in 1990 and defeated Belgian outfit Club Brugge 5-3 on aggregate to reach this stage of the competition – they have never played in the group stage of a European competition.

Their most well-known players are former Arsenal and Manchester City duo Gael Clichy and Emmanuel Adebayor, captain Emre Belozoglu and Dutch winger Eljero Elia.

Other enticing ties sees Italian champions Napoli clash with Nice of France, while Liverpool take on the highly-rated German side Hoffenheim.
