Real Betis have missed out on Middlesbrough playmaker Gaston Ramirez, who instead looks set to join Ligue 1 club Nantes.
Estadio Deportivo report the move to Los Verdiblancos collapsed due to the player’s financial demands and they have instead shifted their focus to Montpellier’s Ryad Boudebouz.
“The possibility of Betis is totally ruled out at this point,” his agent Pablo Betancour is quoted as saying by the Seville-based paper.
The Uruguayan international has endured a turbulent time in England since joining Southampton in 2012 with relatively unhappy stints at the South Coast club alongside Hull and Boro.
