Atletico Madrid defender Jose Maria Gimenez has once again been linked with a move away from the club with Roma ‘dreaming’ of signing him, say reports.
Tuttomercatoweb and Il Messaggero both claims the Italian giants have lined up the Uruguayan defender should in-demand defender Kostas Manolas exit the club this summer.
Earlier this month claims in both Diario AS and El Mundo Deportivo linked Inter with a move to the Atleti defender with former Roma Coach Luciano Spalletti said to be engineering a move.
The 22-year-old is reportedly open to a move away from Los Rojiblancos due to lack of playing time – he started only 12 La Liga fixtures last season and is behind Diego Godin and Stefan Savic in Diego Simeone’s pecking order.
Gimenez is particularly keen to obtain more playing time as this season due to his willingness to nail down a place for Uruguay ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
