Besiktas: ‘We want to sign Negredo’

Besiktas president Fikret Orman has admitted the club are working on a deal to sign Valencia striker Alvaro Negredo.

The Turkish champions, who signed Portugal defender Pepe after his release from Real Madrid last month, view the 31-year-old as an ideal candidate to strengthen their attack.

"We are negotiating for Negredo,” Orman is quoted as saying by Marca.

“The most important thing is to keep within the boundaries of our sporting and economic criteria and objectives.

“It may be that we speed up some of our operations in the coming days. Negredo is one of the names we want, but I will not delve into how we will negotiate. We are responsible for the future of the club.”

Negredo spent last season on loan at English club Middlesbrough where he netted 10 goals in 39 appearances.
