Official: Granero joins Espanyol

Espanyol have announced the signing of midfielder Esteban Granero from Real Sociedad on three-year contract.

Granero joins on a free transfer after making just 37 appearances for La Real in the last two seasons.

There is also the option of a fourth year, with the Catalans’ official website stating it is on the proviso that he meets “sporting objectives”.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be part of your family,” he said in his first message to the club, reports AS.

“I’m looking forward to starting work in order to achieve our objectives for next season.”

The former Real Madrid and Queens Park Rangers man will wear the No 23 shirt, once worn by Espanyol legend Raul Tamudo, and will be presented alongside the returning Sergio Garcia on Monday at Cornella-El Prat.
