Roma target Las Palmas duo

Roma sporting director Monchi is set to raid La Liga for Las Palmas duo Mauricio Lemos and Roque Mesa, according to reports in Spain.

Marca report the two, unlike forward Jonathan Viera – who has also been attracting interest – are seen as ‘sellable’ by Los Amarillos while the Rome club are keen to invest the €50m they received from Mo Salah’s sale to Liverpool.

Monchi tried to sign holding midfielder Mesa last summer at Sevilla and despite personal terms being agreed, the fee broke down as the Gran Canarian would not sell for less than €12m.

Uruguayan defender Lemos has a release clause of €30m but Las Palmas are reportedly likely to accept bids in the region of €20-25m.

28-year-old Mesa has emerged as one of La Liga’s highly rated midfielders in the past twelve months for his ball-winning attributes while Lemos is also reportedly the subject of interest from Everton.
