Ex-Leeds man commits to Villarreal

Villarreal have announced that former Leeds United loanee Alfonso Pedraza has extended his contract with the club until 2021.

Pedraza joined Leeds back in January, in a deal which included a €10m purchase option if they won promotion to the Premier League.

However, the Whites ended up finishing outside the Championship playoff spots and the winger has since returned to La Ceramica.

Despite his new deal, Estadio Deportivo reports the 21-year-old could still leave the Yellow Submarine this summer, with Real Betis interested in negotiating a similar arrangement.

Betis loaned Pedraza’s teammate Matias Nahuel for the 2016-17 campaign, but the Argentine made just 10 substitute appearances for the Andalusians.

Pedraza scored only once in 14 appearances for Leeds but impressed at Lugo in the first half of the season, having netted six goals and assisted eight for Segunda side Lugo.

ED claims Ola John, Adri Embarba, Cristian Tello and Carles Gil are other widemen on Betis’ shortlist.
