RM ‘following’ Milan star, give up on DDG

Real Madrid appear to have admitted defeat in their attempts to sign David De Gea and are now ‘following’ Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarruma.

In a wide-ranging interview, Los Blancos president Florentino Perez confirmed there had been no fresh approach for the Spain international since their failed attempt to sign him two years ago and the players ‘are very fond of’ Keylor Navas.

“We haven't spoken to De Gea,” Perez told Onda Cero.

“Two years ago we had an issue and then the appropriate circumstances didn't arise.

“The players are very fond of Keylor and also the coach. I like Keylor Navas. I wanted De Gea because I did not know Keylor Navas.

“Donnarumma? Everyone in the world says he’s a great player, who will replace Buffon in the national team.

“That he’s one with great quality. The whole world is telling me. We’re definitely following him, but I can’t tell you everything we’ll do.”
