Cristiano Ronaldo believes silence is the best ploy after facing allegations of defrauding the Spanish tax system of €14.7m.
"Sometimes the best answer it's to be quiet,” the Portuguese star captioned a pensive photo of himself shared on instagram, following on from his brief statement on Wednesday that he had ‘a clear conscience’.
The news coincides with reports in Portugal that the 32-year-old has made an ‘irreversible decision’ to leave Real Madrid this summer, despite the club recently giving its full support in relation to his tax situation.
Ronaldo is currently on international duty in Russia with Portugal as he prepares for the Confederations Cup, which gets underway on Saturday.
