Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed how Zinedine Zidane gave Real Madrid “a pep talk” en route to them winning the Champions League on Saturday.
Madrid were pegged back by Mario Mandzukic’s bicycle kick before half-time, and Ronaldo suggested Zidane’s “belief” helped Los Blancos score three goals against Juventus after the break to ensure they made history.
“I prepared for this, we’ve won big things in the end. Zidane gave us a pep talk, he believes in us a lot,” the Portuguese told Atresmedia, Real Madrid TV and BeIN Sports.
“He knows we’re very good and we showed we were very good.
“It’s been an impressive end to the season. We ended it very well and I’m happy.
“We’re the first team to win the Champions League for two straight years and I scored two goals.
“It’s another record and these players deserved it, me too because I scored two goals and finished as the top scorer in the Champions League.
“Our objective is to win the next Champions League, we‘ve won this one and we’re the best.
“Thank-you to the fans for the support they’ve shown us since the beginning of the campaign.”
