Voro laments ‘disastrous’ season

Outgoing Valencia Coach Voro Gonzalez gave a heartfelt final press conference to blast the club’s performances both on and off the pitch.

A final day 3-1 defeat at home to Villarreal concluded a miserable campaign for Los Che, who ended the season in 12th place with 18 La Liga losses and three different permanent managers.

“It has been a disastrous season which was shaped by a bad start," Voro told his final press conference.

“In the final months we had some success despite the situation being difficult and complicated, but yes I will admit that further mistakes were made and there are certain things I would now have done differently.

“Many things need to change at this club, and if they ask my opinion, I will give them it.

“I had an advantage when I came in as coach because I knew what was going on behind the scenes but others did not.”

Voro, whose popularity was evident when applauded out of his conference, spoke positively of incoming Coach Marcelino Garcia Toral, most recently at Villarreal.

"He has a clear idea of what he wants to do,” he added.

"I will continue to work at the club to make sure this doesn't happen again, and this is my last press conference as coach.”
