James to United ‘imminent’

Real Madrid star James Rodriguez looks set to join Manchester United and a deal could be announced as early as Sunday, according to reports.

Radio Caracol, in the playmaker’s native Colombia, state the 25-year-old's switch to Old Trafford is to be made public after Madrid’s last match of the league campaign at Malaga on Sunday evening for a fee of €50m.

RCN Radio in Colombia had previously reported the early stages of an agreement had been reached between the clubs, and James had his heart set on joining Jose Mourinho’s side.

The player’s father, Juan Carlos Restrepo appeared to confirm a move to Cadena Ser: "I'm sure James knows about how few minutes he's been getting. I, as a father, prefer him to be a starting player in a different team than being a substitute at Real Madrid.

“His gesture at the end (of the game v Sevilla) was one of appreciation to the Madrid fans.”

AS report the exit of the former Porto and Monaco star will not be confirmed until after the Champions League final on 3rd June.
