Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has extended his contract at the club, committing his future to the German champions to 2021.
The Spanish international’s previous deal at the Allianz Arena was set to run to 2019, having initially moved to Bayern from Barcelona back in 2013.
"My family and I feel very comfortable in Munich,” explained Thiago on Bayern’s website.
“Everything fits. I want to win many titles with FC Bayern in the future. "
The club’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge expressed his delight at announcing the deal: “Thiago is one of the best and therefore the most coveted midfielders in Europe.
“We are very happy that we have been able to bind this outstanding professional to the club in the long term.”
Thiago has netted 17 goals across 118 appearances for the Bundesliga leaders and has won twenty caps for the Spanish national side.
