Sampaoli denies AFA meeting

Sevilla Coach Jorge Sampaoli has denied any meetings have taken place with the Argentina FA regarding a possible move away from the club.

Argentine sports channel TYC Sports reported that a meeting took place in Barcelona involving Sampaoli’s lawyer, Fernando Baredes, and the Argentina Football Association (AFA) president Claudio Tapia, in the aftermath of Edgardo Bauza’s dismissal as national team manager last month.

"I'm not aware of the meeting you speak about. I haven't had any meetings with anyone,” Sampaoli told reporters after Sunday’s goalless draw at Valencia.

"Regarding other people's meetings, they should talk about it. I already spoke about my future on Friday … I don't know what to say because nothing has changed with respect to Friday."

Sevilla warned the AFA last week that any meetings would be ‘unacceptable’ and they would take a legal route should any rules of the manager’s contract at Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan be broken.
