Javier Mascherano could miss Barcelona’s second leg of their Champions League quarter final through injury, the Catalan club fear.

The Argentine international missed training on Monday through a calf injury which is not thought to be serious, but could be enough to see him miss Wednesday’s encounter at the Camp Nou.

The 32-year-old, who’s future at the club is reportedly in doubt, missed Saturday’s 3-2 victory over Real Sociedad – with Luis Enrique’s side looking defensively shaky in his absence.

The Blaugrana are attempting to overturn a 3-0 deficit against the Italian champions, in a similar ‘remontada’ that saw them dramatically comeback from a 4-0 first leg defeat to beat Paris Saint-Germain in the previous round.

There was better news for Barca as Arda Turan returned from injury to complete fully in Monday’s session.
