Barcelona hope to have Neymar available to play Real Madrid by timing their appeal against his suspension.
Marca notes the Brazil international was given a three-game ban after being sent off against Malaga and the suspension breaks down as one game for the incident that led to his dismissal and two games for sarcastically applauding referee Gil Manzano on his way off the pitch.
But Barca have 10 days from Tuesday to lodge an appeal and won’t do so until next week. It’s expected the appeal will fail and Barca will then go to the Administrative Court for Sport to have their case heard, requesting the interim suspension of the two-game ban for dissent. Neymar will fulfil the first part of the suspension this weekend against Real Sociedad.
The Administrative Court for Sport meets on Fridays, Marca adds, and if they agree to hear Barca’s appeal, could allow Neymar to play against Madrid in the interim.
