Neymar facing Clasico ban?

Neymar could be retrospectively banned for the Clasico after the Barcelona star was perceived to have disrespected the fourth official at Malaga on Saturday.

Neymar was sent off for clattering into Diego Llorente out of frustration during Barca’s 2-0 defeat to Malaga, and AS reports the Catalans’ problems could still get worse ahead of facing Real Madrid on April 23.

That is because referee Jesus Gil Manzano noted in his report that the forward sarcastically applauded the fourth official as he went down the tunnel.

Neymar will miss Barca’s next La Liga game against Real Sociedad, but his suspension could be extended to as many as three games if Article 117 of the RFEF’s Disciplinary Code is applies.

The article stipulates: “Addressing referees, officials or sporting authorities with attitudes of contempt or disrespect, providing that the action does not constitute a more serious foul, will be sanctioned with the suspension of two to three games or one month.”

The Brazilian’s dismissal also ended a 59-game run in which Barca did not have a player sent off.
