Milan target Benzema – report

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema will be AC Milan’s number one target this summer following their takeover, according to reports.

Tuttosport claims the Rossoneri will enquire to Madrid regarding the future of the French striker, with optimism they could be open to a move due to the emergence of Alvaro Morata, who netted a hat trick for Los Blancos against Leganes on Wednesday.

Milanese directors Marco Fassone and Massimo Mirabelli are reportedly preparing an offer for Benzema, who, despite being 29 years old, will command a big fee given his contract runs until 2019.

The Italian club’s rumoured takeover date has been set between 13-14 April by Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi, with the club hopeful it will kickstart their return to European football’s elite.

The French striker has netted a total of 178 goals in 354 appearances for Los Blancos since joining the club from Lyon in the summer of 2009.
