Monchi ‘likes’ prospect of role at Roma

Monchi has reiterated he ‘likes’ the idea of moving to Roma but has confirmed he has also spoken to clubs in England and France.

The Sevilla sporting director confirmed he was leaving the Andalucians at the end of the season but has ruled out the possibility of joining another Spanish clubs after Marca linked him to Real Madrid.

"Roma are the team that has talked to me the most and I like the proposal,” told El Larguero.

“They want to wait for me but there are other offers in France and England, although they are not so far along. I have listened to them and I told them how I work, but again Roma is a project I like.

“There are three types (of sporting director), as I see it. There is a presidentialist – where the president is the boss. Another, as in the English Premier League, where the coach is the manager who passes plans on to the sporting director and another is a mixed model like Sevilla – the president sets the tone, but I have a lot of responsibility and say.

“I couldn’t go to another Spanish club – I am a Sevillista. One of the elements I am most proud is the structure of the club I will leave behind, it is in very good shape.”
