Atletico Madrid full-back Sime Vrasljko does not require knee surgery after tests on Monday revealed no damage to his anterior cruciate ligament.
An MRI revealed the Croatian suffered a partial tear to his posterior cruciate ligament and a medial collateral ligament sprain, which forced him off in the second minute of his side’s match with Sevilla on Sunday.
"Sime Vrasljko underwent on Monday morning an MRI which revealed a partial tear of his posterior cruciate ligament and a grade I-II sprain in his internal collateral ligament of his left knee,” read an Atleti statement on Monday.
"The Croatia international defender will begin treatment to recover from his left knee injury."
No date has yet been put on the 25-year-old’s return to action although Marca suggests he will return in a month’s time and he is now expected to miss both legs of the Champions League quarter final against Leicester City.
