Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin has insisted his side cannot rest on their laurels and must go out to win the second leg clash against Bayer Leverkusen.
Diego Simeone’s side lead 4-2 from the first leg in Germany last month but the Uruguayan international defender pointed to last week’s drama in the competition as a warning to his side’s chances.
"That (Barcelona’s comeback against Paris Saint-Germain) is the best example that this is football and anything can happen," Godin told his press conference ahead of the game.
"That is the nice thing about all this. But we respect this opponent always. We are not thinking about the first leg result, just winning this match.
"We go out to win, not to defend our lead, as we always do.
"Reaching two of the last three finals? It seems something normal, but we must realise it is not. We must be excited and give it the praise it deserves.”
