‘Monchi to Madrid? So be it…’

Sevilla boss Jorge Sampaoli admits if a move to Real Madrid for Monchi “is in his best interests then so be it”.

Links between Monchi and Madrid have intensified this week as reports suggest Florentino Perez will target the sporting director once he is re-elected President of Los Blancos in the summer.

“We’re clear on what we’re looking for,” the Coach said at a Press conference for Saturday’s clash with Leganes in La Liga.

“Sincerely, If we think about Tuesday at Leganes, we’ll have a bad afternoon.

“If we think about Tuesday, we’d be brushing aside something very important and we’d put a lot of pressure on ourselves in the Champions League. We have to think about Leganes first.

“We’ll give everything we’ve got, and that can help to ensure the game ends in our favour.

“The priority is this game. In the Champions League, we’re playing against a team that will have had 10 days of rest.

“Monchi to Madrid? For our club to have a sporting director that is linked with one of the best teams in the world, it’s good for us. It’s a plus.

“If those links are confirmed and it’s in his best interests then so be it.”
