Real Betis are seeking to alter the contract of star midfielder Dani Ceballos to remove the €12m release clause in his current deal.
The 20-year-old has produced a string of excellent performances under new Coach Victor Sanchez del Amo following specific interest from Atletico Madrid last summer with an initial approach rejected by Los Verdiblancos.
AS reports that Betis are currently actively working on removing the current release clause on his deal, although they do not state whether they are seeking to remove this altogether or increase the amount.
Ceballos – who’s current deal at Estadio Benito Villamarin runs until 2020 – is reportedly happy at the club and does not seek a move away, but Betis are aware his star performances are attracting interest from rival clubs in Spain and elsewhere.
The midfielder’s latest cameo saw him come on at the break with his side trailing 1-0 in Malaga and he inspired a second-half comeback to take Sanchez’s side ten points clear of the relegation zone.
The club recently tied Brazilian midfielder Petros down to a new deal and are reportedly also working on extending goalkeeper Antonio Adan’s contract.
