Real Madrid full-back Marcelo heaped praise his side’s mentality in their comeback win at Villarreal and insisted other results did not change their approach.
Zinedine Zidane’s side started the game in third place in the standings after weekend wins for Sevilla and Barcelona, but three goals in the final 25 minutes saw them go from 2-0 down to win 3-2 and reclaim their spot at the top.
"The team knew not to give up on the game," Marcelo explained to Movistar TV after the final whistle.
"We were under a lot of pressure, and with the help of everyone, all the teammates, we ran a lot, fought a lot and came back.
"We play every game with a lot of pressure, the results of other teams are not important for us.
"There are no easy games these days. We knew it would be difficult, although we did not expect to concede two goals. You must point out the effort we made."
