Voro: No decision on future

Valencia boss Voro Gonzalez insists he will not make a decision on his future until the end of the season ahead of Saturday’s trip to Alaves.

Two straight wins have propelled Valencia 10 points clear of the relegation zone in a Liga and just six behind the top half of the table, but Voro – whose contract remains due to expire once the campaign ends – made it clear Los Che could not afford to “drop their heads”.

“The team are like a team that played a very intense game with brutal effort on Wednesday,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“Two days later is when the fatigue creeps in and we have to compete on Saturday, although at least our effort was worth it. We knew the calendar beforehand.

“I always see the glass half full. For the team to pick up six points in a short space of time, it’s a firm step forward. Beating Madrid means something more in terms of confidence.

“Rotations? It’s impossible to only think about this game. We’ll have played on Wednesday, Saturday and Tuesday in a very big handicap, so we must regulate our effort. We’re not going to hand over the match tomorrow.

“A new joy in the dressing room? A month ago, when we were level on points with those at the bottom, our faces weren’t the same. That’s normal. If it were the opposite, we’d be dead and buried.

“Now we can work from another perspective, the road we’re on is the right one, but if we drop our heads, teams will walk over us. We’ve seen both sides of the coin and we’ve been warned.

“Mauricio Pellegrino? When you’ve been in football for so many years, you become acquaintances with so many people.

“He’s doing an exceptional job with a newly-promoted team, he’s showing that he’s doing things very well. Alaves look like a team that are very clear on what they’re doing.

“Have I talked about my future with Peter Lim? I haven’t talked to the club, now’s not the time.

“My future doesn’t worry me at all. There’s plenty of time and still 15 games left.”
