Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti hailed Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara’s ‘perfect’ performance in his side’s 5-1 thumping of Arsenal on Wednesday.
Thiago netted twice as Bayern ran the Gunners ragged at the Allianz Arena and take total command of the two-legged last 16 tie.
“Thiago played really well,” the Italian Coach told reporters at his post-match press conference.
“We put him in a position between their lines and that position is really important for us because it allowed us more freedom in attacks and he closed down their moves well.
“His performance was really good and the fact he scored two goals as well made it a perfect evening for him.”
Thiago joined the Bavarians from Barcelona in a €25m move in the summer of 2013 following Pep Guardiola’s appointment at Bayern.
