Barcelona is like a religion – Digne

Barcelona full-back Lucas Digne has compared playing for Barcelona to a religion and believes they are the biggest club in the world.

The 23-year-old moved to the Camp Nou in the summer from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of €16.5m after a loan stint at AS Roma.

“For me, Barcelona is the biggest club in the world and I think that’s the same for everybody,” explained Digne.

“It’s their way of playing; it’s like a religion – very powerful and here it’s like a family.

“I told my father it would be a dream to play here and that’s what has happened.

“All the recruits have been warmly welcomed by the players, the staff and the people of the city, it has been amazing.

“The pressure is different as are the expectations, because this is the biggest club.

“You have to win a lot of trophies and that is what we’re aiming to do.”

Digne, who has made 20 appearances for the Catalans this summer, has explained that playing with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar is incredible as they are ‘the best in the world’.

“It’s incredible, it’s incredible…they are the best strikers in the world, it’s a pleasure to play with them both as men and as players,” he added.

“It’s the same in training as it is in games –they can do incredible things.

“I think everyone has seen videos of our training sessions; they don’t need to prove their quality, it really is incredible.”
