Mina set for a month out

Valencia forward Santi Mina is set to miss between three and four weeks of action after damaging ligaments in his left knee.

The former Celta Vigo forward was substituted off in the 64th minute of Valencia’s scoreless draw at Betis on Saturday after going down awkwardly on his knee, with the club now confirming the damage done.

“Following tests carried out by club doctors, Santi Mina has been diagnosed with a Grade I-II sprain to the anterolateral ligament of his left knee,” read a club statement.

“The estimated recovery time for the injury is between 3-4 weeks.”

The 21-year-old is set to miss his side’s next five La Liga fixtures against Athletic Bilbao, Real Madrid, Alaves, Leganes and Atletico Madrid, but is expected to return to action against Sporting Gijon in what could be a crucial match at the bottom of the table.
