Monchi wants success at ‘another club’

Sevilla sporting director Monchi has once again confirmed his desire to one day leave the club to see if he can replicate his successes elsewhere.

The former goalkeeper handed in his resignation to the Europa League winners over summer but eventually reversed his decision after the club showed unwillingness to allow him to leave.

"I want to see if I can do what I did at Sevilla at another club," Monchi told BeIN Sports.

"I want to live and experience perhaps two different countries, France and Italy; there is no specific reason [to leave Sevilla] and no exact date.

"When I see the conditions are right for a boy who arrived at Sevilla aged 18 and has been there for 30 years, I will leave. It will be a bilateral decision, not unilateral. I am the one who has the most doubts of all.

"There is another step you have to take to challenge Real Madrid and Barcelona but this is a club with ambition and I don't think we want to finish third. That would be poor and mediocre.”
