Valencia miss out on Mikel, want Zaza

Valencia are set to miss out on signing Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel but have renewed their interest in Juventus forward Simone Zaza.

Mikel is set to undergo a medical on Thursday as he nears a move to Chinese Super League side Tianjin TEDA where he will reportedly earn €170,000 per week despite holding talks with Valencia, Inter Milan and Marseille.

The Nigerian has not featured for the London Blues this campaign, finding himself behing N'Golo Kante, Nemanja Matic, Cesc Fabregas and Nathaniel Chalobah in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, and Los Che’s attempts to draft him in now appear to have failed, according to the Daily Mail.

However, Sky Sport Italia report that manager-less Valencia are still keen on Juve striker Zaza, who West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic had confirmed had ended his loan spell at London – “his story with West Ham has finished”.

Calcio Mercato also report the Italian favours a move to Mestalla ahead of Fiorentina, who will reportedly consider a move if Nikola Kalinic goes to China.

Juventus reportedly are keen on a loan deal for the forward with a future obligation to buy for €20m, while the Spaniards are reportedly unwilling to go above €15m.
