Odegaard set for Dutch departure

Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard looks set to join either Ajax or Heerenveen on loan for the rest of the season, it has been reported.

AS state that the Dutch duo are in advanced negotiations for the 18-year-old, who will then make a decision on which Eredivisie side he will join in January.

The Norwegian has played mainly for Real Madrid’s Castilla in Spanish football’s third tier and has only taken part in two competitive games for Los Blancos senior team since his move in 2014.

Norwegian TV2 and EFE report he is favouring a move to Amsterdam but no final decision has yet been taken.

Odegaard began his career at local Norwegian side Stromsgodset and has gone on to be capped nine times by his country since move to the Bernabeu.

Ajax are currently second in the Eredivisie, five points behind leaders Feyenoord, while Heerenveen are a further eight points back in fourth.
